The mission of the CSSGA’s Land Use and Environmental Committee is to proactively identify and take appropriate action on issues deemed important to existing and future operations of CSSGA members. The Committee is dedicated to advancing and encouraging Colorado’s aggregate construction industries; providing information on legislative matters to the membership; building and enhancing positive relationships with regulatory and governmental agencies; and creating a better understanding among the citizens of Colorado regarding the importance of the aggregate mining industry.
The Committee focuses on identifying and understanding the various regulatory issues as they pertain to the aggregate mining industry: water policy and regulation, land use, permitting for new plant operations, equipment permitting, water discharge/storage/augmentation/testing, air permitting, etc.
Representatives from the Colorado Department of Health & Environment, the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining & Safety, the Colorado Division of Water Resources, and various other regulatory agencies regularly attend Committee meetings to engage in an open dialogue with industry leaders. In addition, associates from various CSSGA member companies give presentations and updates on current regulatory issues impacting the aggregate industry.
