Hello CSSGA members,
Welcome to this month’s Executive Director’s Blog! Summer is here and all the things that go with it. You know, warm weather, picnics, long hours, mosquitoes, you get the point. Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the weather! Here is what’s going on at you association:
The Colorado Construction Industry Coalition (CCIC) continues to work towards the transportation funding Initiative. As you know, the Colorado legislative session ended for 2016 without passing any new funding sources. This continues to be disappointing. The CCIC had considered moving forward with a ballot initiative for 2016, but now believe 2018 would be better suited for this item. We will continue to work diligently with our coalition partners on this important issue.
On June 2nd, CSSGA hosted another MSHA Roundtable session. This session continues to be held twice annually, and remains an effective way to interact with key members of the MSHA Rocky Mountain District. This meeting included Dustan W. Crelly, Assistant District Manager, and Peter DelDuca, Staff Assistant, for the district. CSSGA members discussed MSHA Academy Training, Small Mine Services, and the Quarterly Webinars through MSHA. We are also reviewing the possibility of bringing out more Academy trainers to provide our members the same training that MSHA inspectors receive. The next session will be this fall so watch for information.
Also, the annual Golf Outing and Networking Event in Grand Junction will be held June 14th at the Redlands Mesa Golf Course. This is a great opportunity to interact with producer and associate members, as well as elected officials from the West Slope. Use this link for registration and sponsorship details.
Lastly, we continue to work on social media training and it will be rolled out in the coming months. We need to be aggressive regarding the use of all media channels to get our message out to the public. Please watch for this information.
I hope everyone has a safe month. Please contact Annelise or me with any comments or questions.
