A steady supply of construction and industrial materials are essential to the Colorado way and our quality of life. In the same way we need a quality educational system and a strong feasible healthcare system, a reliable, local supply of construction and industrial materials is essential to life in Colorado. Try to imagine a world without rock, sand, gravel, concrete and industrial minerals. There would be no homes, highways, hospitals and schools. There would be no bridges, dams, solar panels, computers, life-saving medicines or many of the products we use each and every day.
We all know how important our industry is to the survival of a strong state economic environment so we need to push ourselves to promote and educate our citizens so they understand what we already know. This is why in 2014 we created the Education Outreach Committee. The mission of the CSSGA’s Education Outreach Committee is to create a better understanding among the citizens of Colorado regarding the importance of the aggregate mining industry. The Committee will collaborate with other local and national resources, as needed, to achieve this goal. The Committee has developed multiple presentations highlighting the importance of the aggregate mining industry in Coloradans’ lives – including economic benefits and the effect on everyday life, such as the reclamation process. These presentations are universal and can be presented by both Associate and Producer Member Companies’ employees, while malleable enough to be formatted for specific localities. So I encourage you and your peers to login in and view these presentations and start educating your local communities.
Mark your calendars for several quality upcoming events. August 28, 2019 is our Industry Tour event, on September 17, 2019 is our Western Slope Golf Tournament, which will take place in Glenwood Springs and our board meeting will follow. Our Annual Conference will take place on November 21-22 at The Broadmoor and keep in mind each month are the Safety, Land Use and Environmental Committee meetings.
