December 2018 President’s Blog

As I sit and write this, I pause for a moment and really try to understand what is important to us as human beings and business professionals.  It comes at a time that we are honoring one of our Great former Presidents, George Herbert Walker Bush.   No matter what your political viewpoint may be, during this time of year we all should reflect on those that have come before us, those who have lost their lives fighting for our great country and the loved ones who are no longer with us.   We all come to this at some point in our lives and we must look at this as a change in our lives not a loss. We too will move forward.  So we all should take a moment or however long is in our hearts and remember those loved ones who are shining down upon us and all the joy that is embodied in them.

As we approach the end of another year, we reflect on the great accomplishments we have made as individuals and as companies.  We also take the time to look back on our struggles and challenges and see how we can grow and learn from them.  This past year our industry looked at making some great changes with Prop 110, however this was not what the voters understood to be a clear and beneficial change.  This doesn’t mean we give up, we look forward to new and different opportunities that will benefit our industry.

I encourage all of you and your peers to truly get involved in the next legislative session so we may protect what is beneficial to our industry and businesses as a whole.  Let’s keep this momentum we have created over the past year and move it forward in the coming one.  Look to our association for continued support and guidance to help you and your organization conquer the challenges and opportunities we may have in the coming year.

I would like to thank the association staff and our great board members for their support and guidance.  Also, on behalf of our association staff and our board members, we would like to wish you a happy and safe holiday season and look forward to seeing all of you in the New Year.
