I can’t believe it is already 2019, how time flies. It seems like only yesterday I started my Colorado aggregate career, but I am beginning my fifteenth year in this great state. As the New Year begins we tend to make New Year’s resolutions to either improve our health, ourselves, or the environment around us. If you really think about this, this is what we do as an entire industry. We have developed some of the safest mines in the world not to mention what we do as industry leaders to protect our environment. This is a great reflection of how we have become strong business leaders and have strong relationships with our governing agencies. But as this year begins to move forward we need to make sure what we have fought for is protected and doesn’t impede our opportunity for growth. So I encourage each and every one of our members to look at ways they can make contributions to our organization whether it is at the legislative level, through our safety program or our environmental committee. I used to be able to say I was one of the young ones, however that has quickly passed. But I am very encouraged to see how our organization has been able to reach out to some of the strongest young talent in our industry and how these people are becoming great leaders. We all should be very proud on how our organization has grown and prospered over the years.
Make sure you and your organization stays engaged with our upcoming Legislative Breakfast on February 20th and March 20th, both at Tetra Tech’s office. If you really want to get involved on the legislative level meet our awesome Governmental Affairs committee in the basement of the Capital every Monday morning. Also, don’t forget about the joint CSSGA/CRMCA first annual Ski event on February 7th-8th at Breckenridge, CO. (Come out and have some fun). The CSSGA/CRMCA Networking event on March 19th. This is your organization, if you see anything that our staff or board members can do to improve for our industry please reach out to one of us. I look forward to a great 2019 and hope to see you at any one of the great functions we have scheduled for this year.
