March 21, 2014 Land Use & Environmental Committee

• Division of Reclamation Mining, & Safety Update: Minerals Program Supervisor, Tony Waldron, announced Loretta Pineda’s upcoming retirement.
• Mined Land Reclamation Board Update: Tom Brubaker, Tony Waldron, and other members of the DRMS and MLRB plan to tour aggregate mines and quarries later this year. Todd Ohlheiser will attend the next MLRB meeting, he plans to discuss a date at that time.
• New Business:
  • Elam Construction’s Gayle Lyman discussed permitting issues he’s been having with a site on the Western Slope.
  • The Committee briefly discussed the EPA’s proposed changes to the Clean Water Act. (See this document for more details on the proposed changes.)
• Old Business:
  • Roundtable discussion on COG-500000 and COR-340000 permit renewal process
    • CSSGA officially submitted comments to CDPHE’s Al Stafford on March 14
    • The Association is working to set-up a meeting between the Western Slope producers and CDPHE
    • CSSGA will continue to keep members up-to-date on the latest deadlines/meetings/revisions
• Other Business:
  • CSSGA will be participating in stakeholder meetings this summer regarding the proposed restructuring of CDPHE’s water quality fees.
