Meeting Overview:

  • New Business: 
    • Roundtable Discussion:
      • DOT:
      • Beginning May 21, 2014 commercial motor vehicle drivers must have their medical examination performed by a certified medical examiner listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. The medical examiner will complete a Medical Examination Report. View FAQs on the Medical Requirements.
      • There was also a brief discussion about the eventual mandate of  Electronic Logging Devices for all CMV drivers.
      • MSHA:
      • Due to a recent fatality local MSHA inspectors have been diligent about checking the security and protection of return rollers.
      • Members also discussed the importance of reminding employees to use their parking breaks at ALL times when at the job site (including personal vehicles).
      • Todd plans to attend the CMA’s Western Mining Conference.
      • DRMS will host a free MSHA New Miner and Annual Refresher training at the end of May at the Joint Association Offices.
      • Bill York-Feirn would like to invite Roger Montali, instructor at the MSHA Academy in West Virginia, to speak to members in October 2014. CSSGA will keep you informed of the details.
      • OSHA:
      • Read about concerns regarding OSHA’s Record-Keeping Proposal
  • Safety Subcommittee Update:
    • The CRMCA Concrete Mixer Truck Driver DVD should be available for sale by summer 2014.
    • The Safety Subcommittee will meet before the May 20 meeting to to discuss topics to be included in the Annual Refresher DVD.

      • May 20: Mod Ratings: Sonja Guenther, Willis Consulting (This will be a combined meeting with the Colorado Contractor’s Association. The meeting will start at 8:00 a.m.. More details will be sent via email in the coming months.)
