July 15, 2014 Safety Committee

Meeting Overview:

• New Business: Megan Meagher, OSHA Compliance Assistant, gave a presentation on Occupational Exposure to Crystalline Silica
• Safety Subcommittee Update:
  • The Safety Subcommittee met after the Committee plans to have the Annual Refresher Training DVD completed by the end of the year. They will be meeting at 9:00 am the morning of the August Safety Committee meeting to discuss and review the DVD.
• Old Business: NTR
• Round Table Discussion:
  • DOT – Polica officers will begin riding with truck drivers to find other truck drivers who are breaking laws such as texting and driving
  • The Committee agreed on the following speakers and topics for the upcoming meetings:
  • • August 19 – Courtney Wentworth, Wellpoint: Updates to Drivers’ Medical Provider Requirements
    • September 16 – Josh Schultz, Law Offices of Adele Abrams P.C.: MSHA’s Proposed Rule on Civil Penalties
    • October 20 – Roger Montali, MSHA Academy: One day seminar. (Regularly scheduled committee meeting is cancelled.)
