February 2022 Executive Director’s Blog

Hello CSSGA membership.  Welcome to the February blog for CSSGA.  I hope everyone is doing well as we get thru another winter season.  Here is what’s going on.

  • Governmental Affairs. Totsy Rees with Rees Consulting provided an update at the January Board of Directors meeting. The Legislative Subcommittee continues to meet on Monday mornings. Please contact Annelise Shepherd if you would like to get involved.
  • Mine Safety Institute (MSI). Many of you are aware of the award winning MSHA training videos and online learning made available from CSSGA. With the help of our business partner at the Department of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS), we are in the process of reshooting the videos for a modern and updated look.  As DRMS has secured a grant for funding, we are putting it to good use. The videos will soon be available on thru the DRMS website, and hopefully we can implement into our current training in the future. Thank you to Bill York-Feirn with the department for his leadership with the grant and helping us maneuver thru the video process.
  • American Concrete Institute (ACI).  While ACI primarily involves concrete, it also includes the aggregate and base material testing and certifications for the mining worldSo while the certification sessions were an extreme challenge during COVID, we are currently up and running at full speed, in order to meet demands. CRMCA recently released the registrations for courses occurring through June of 2022. Register here.
  • Events.
