Hello CSSGA members and welcome to the July Executive Director’s Blog.  The 4th of July Holiday is already here, can you believe it!?  I hope the summer is going well and everyone is having a safe and productive year.  Here is what’s going on with your association:

We, along with our partners in the Colorado Construction Industry Coalition (CCIC), have decided to not pursue our Infrastructure Funding ballot initiative in this overcrowded election cycle.  Our belief is that in 2018, as traffic delays and safety concerns continue to escalate in Colorado, voters will be more accepting of actually taking action and wanting to fund infrastructure projects.  This also gives us additional opportunities to have our elected officials do their job and take action on funding.  While we are disappointed that neither happened this year, it is the right decision at this point in time.

As part of our efforts to truly be a statewide association, CSSGA held our Golf Outing and Networking Event in Grand Junction on June 14th.  I want to thank everyone who participated in these events, as it was a great way to interact with both producer and associate members, as well as elected officials from the Western Slope.  View event photos today!  Register now for our Fall Networking Event in Colorado Springs on September 20th at the Colorado Mining Exchange.

Lastly, our social media outreach continues to grow as we are able to measure our success.  Once our exciting social media training goes viral (see, I am getting the lingo), we expect even more interaction.  Please watch for info to follow.

Again, I hope everyone’s summer continues to be safe.  Please contact Annelise or myself with any comments or questions.  Thanks.

Todd R. Ohlheiser

Executive Director
