Committee Overview
The Education Outreach Committee is the heart of CSSGA’s efforts to connect Colorado’s aggregate mining industry with schools, communities, and aspiring professionals. We develop accessible, age-appropriate resources to highlight the industry’s contributions to infrastructure, sustainability, and local economies. From fourth-grade presentations to high school career workshops, our initiatives counter misconceptions about mining and promote reclamation successes, like native plant repopulation and water storage. By collaborating with educators, students, and community leaders, we foster understanding and enthusiasm for an industry that builds Colorado’s future.

Key Initiatives
- Educational Resources: Create downloadable presentation kits for targeted audiences featuring reclamation efforts, career paths, industry advancements and innovations and to spark curiosity among students, decision makers and all Coloradans.
- Community Engagement: Connects with events e.g. Touch-A-Trucks, and shares resources showcasing sustainable practices, addressing “not in my backyard” concerns for community leaders and residents.
- Career Outreach: Partner with universities and trade schools to provide career guidance and networking events inspiring those interested to join the aggregate industry in Colorado.
- Sustainability Advocacy: Develop infographics, social media content and other educational tools highlighting reclamation, appealing to environmentally concious legislative advocates, decision makers and community educators.
