Committee Overview

The Safety Committee, a collaboration between CSSGA and the Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete Association (CRMCA), drives excellence in safety and health across Colorado’s aggregate and concrete industries. We develop cutting-edge training programs, like the nationally recognized MSHA Part 46 New Miner Training DVDs, and partner with agencies such as the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) to ensure compliance. By promoting best practices, recognizing safety leaders, and addressing workplace hazards, the committee safeguards workers and fosters trust with regulators and communities.

Key Initiatives

  • Advanced Safety Training: Create and promote MSHA-sanctioned training resources, including on-demand New Miner Training via the Mine Safety Institute (MSI), to equipment Safety Officers and New Miners with essential skills.
  • Safety Recognition: Administer awards like the Rodman C. Stewart Memorial Leadership Award and Safety Innovation Award to honor outstanding safety contributions, inspiring industry-wide excellence.
  • Regulatory Partnerships: Engage in regulatory roundtables with MSHA, OSHA, and DOT to align industry practices with evolving safety standards, supporting Safety Officers and Legislative Advocates.
  • Hazard Prevention: Develop programs to reduce incidents around heavy machinery, sharing safety bulletins and toolbox tips to protect workers and inform Community Educators.
  • Community Awareness: Promote the industry’s safety commitment through social media and events, addressing misconceptions for Community Educators and Legislative Advocates.
