June 2024 President’s Update

Welcome to the time of year when construction is in full swing and the busy production season is upon us. Most of us are focused on the daily tasks of meeting our production goals and keeping customers happy. Meanwhile the CSSGA is staying active to represent our industry’s interests on all fronts.

With the legislative session now over, we can take pride in some accomplishments as well as lick our wounds with some struggles. Todd Ohlheiser recapped the legislative session in his May 3 Executive Director’s Blog. The Governmental Affairs Committee will continue to meet to monitor the upcoming elections and determine which candidates and races we will be endorsing.

Our Regulatory & Environmental Committee is also continuing their efforts on developing templates for the soon to be required Toxic Air Contaminants (TAC) monitoring thresholds along with the other myriad of issues being thrown at our industry.

Please consider getting involved in one of the association’s committees as we approach mid-year. Along with the Governmental Affairs and Regulatory & Environmental Committees there are other opportunities for you to help represent and protect our great industry. Please contact Emma Dolan at emma@coloradocaa.org to get involved or receive more information.

Along with our committee activities, we have some events that are both fun and educational which I strongly encourage participation in as they will be worthwhile:

CSSGA is also dedicated to assisting the next generation of leaders in to our industry through education assistance. The Gayle Lyman Scholarship application period is open and we hope you or someone you know who wants to enter our industry will apply. The applications are due June 13 and can be downloaded here.

Thank you for your participation and engagement in our association. We are only as strong as our members and the support provided by you.
